A Native of Smiths Falls, Ontario, Rob played Junior Hockey in Smiths Falls, Nepean, Newmarket and Kitchener. He attended Wilfrid Laurier University, guiding the Golden Hawks to two consecutive National Finals appearences and was named CIAU Nationals MVP in 1990.
Rob was signed as a free agent by Pittsburgh in 1990 and spent the next four seasons with the Penguins affiliate in Muskegon/Cleveland appearing in 2 NHL games with the parent club. He then played the following 3 seasons with the Houston Aeros of the IHL before leading the Ayr Scottish Eagles of the British Superleague to a Grand Slam Championship and being named the British Ice Hockey Superleague Player of the year in 1997-98. Rob also signed to play for the Nippon Paper Cranes of the Japanese Ice Hockey League from 1998-2003.
Rob retired after 14 years of professional hockey in 2004 and now operates an Insurance brokerage in Smiths Falls. He and his wife Marli currently reside in Merrickville with their 5 children Taylor, Spencer, Hunter, Skyler and Amber. |
